Welcome to the Portsmouth Festival Choir website.

Portsmouth Festival Choir, described as “in the top bracket of the region’s Choral groups”, gives at least three major concerts annually, joined by soloists, orchestral musicians and accompanists of the highest calibre. Its aim is to provide a stimulating musical experience for its members and for its audience in the Portsmouth and Hampshire area.

Portsmouth Festival Choir prides itself on being a welcoming, friendly and accessible group. It is committed to continue striving for musical excellence. It aims to integrate with the overall musical life of the local community and widen its audience. The choir frequently combines with other groups to perform larger or more complex choral works.

The Choir is keen to encourage new singers. It organises regular choral workshops and many participants have subsequently joined the Choir. Prospective new members are offered a free trial first term’s attendance, during which period they are auditioned by the Musical Director. To help younger singers financially, the Choir offers a small Bursary to under 25’s.
